Dear Conference Attendees, Sponsors and Vendors,
I am excited to welcome all y'all to our 95th Annual Conference and Vendor Show being held at the elegant Williamsburg Lodge. We will be an hour south of Lancaster County, my home, known as the Land of Pleasant Living. We are a small, rural county with a population just shy of 11 ,000 residents. After growing up outside of Syracuse, New York, I have had the privilege of calling this place my home for the last 34 years.
Lancaster County is known for our rich heritage, The Bridge, seafood and slow pace of life (also known as Rivah Time). My hope is that you will get to feel some of that in Williamsburg.
Our theme this year is Bridging our Heritage, Uniting Our Future. How perfect that we celebrate in Williamsburg on this, the 250th anniversary of the beginning of our Country. But before we began in Williamsburg, life began here in Lancaster County some time between 1707 and 1709 for Mary Ball, as she was born. In 1731 she married a man by the name of Augustine Washington and moved to Westmoreland County where her son, George, was born. The rest, as they say, is history. Bring your red, white and blue to celebrate our nation's birthday a couple of weeks early.
We have put together education sessions that should prove to be meaningful to take back to your offices, but also to apply to your own lives. And as always, the most important aspect of our conferences is our networking; connecting with other treasurers and their offices from all over this great Commonwealth we all call home.
It is with extreme gratitude that we also welcome our sponsors and vendors. Take every opportunity to visit with each of them and inquire about their services. You may find a new and better way of doing something in your office, and be sure to thank them for taking part, because without them, our conference wouldn't be possible.
Get ready to immerse yourself in our nation's history, making memories to last a lifetime.
Humbly yours,
Bonnie J Dickson, MGT
Treasurer, County of Lancaster

Taverns were central to 18th-century life, serving as gathering places for locals and travelers alike. Guests paid a set fee for a meal and often shared communal sleeping arrangements. Shields Tavern, originally operated by Jean Marot in 1709, later came under the management of his daughter Anne and her husband James Shields. By 1750, it was one of Williamsburg’s seven licensed taverns, catering to the lesser gentry and upper middling ranks with food, drink, and entertainment.

Hotel & Conference Center
Williamsburg Lodge
310 S. England Street, Williamsburg, VA. 23185

Step into a hotel where history becomes part of your stay. Built by John D. Rockefeller Jr. in 1939, the Williamsburg Lodge is now an Autograph Collection hotel. Interiors inspired by Abby Aldrich Rockefeller’s folk art collection create a setting that's less formal than a museum and as inviting as a living room. Relax in deluxe suites, enjoy coffee on balconies, or admire decorative details—including lanterns made by Colonial Williamsburg tin plate workers. Start mornings at Traditions, enjoy dinner or cocktails at Sweet Tea & Barley, lounge by the pool, hit the fitness center, indulge at the spa, or visit Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, a Top-100 course, just across the street. A short stroll brings you to the Historic Area, William & Mary, and Merchants Square, while Jamestown, Yorktown, & Busch Gardens being just minutes away—perfect for family adventures, romantic getaways, or group gatherings.

Sponsorship Opportunities
I am excited to host the 95th Annual Treasurers’ Association of Virginia (TAV) Conference on June 14-17, 2026, at the Williamsburg Lodge in Williamsburg, Virginia. This will be a busy year in Williamsburg. 2026 is the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Williamsburg is also celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. We are pleased to be a part of this unique opportunity. We will be Bridging our Heritage to Unite our Future. We hope you will join us during this momentous occasion.
As many of you know, this annual conference attracts treasurers and staff from across the Commonwealth. We come together not only to expand our education and network with our peers, but also to create and strengthen relationships with our sponsors and vendors. Your support is crucial in making this event memorable, filled with amazing activities, delicious food, and extensive fellowship. We are eager to learn more about your business and the services you can provide to enhance and improve our offices. We will have several opportunities for our members to spend time with you. Attached is an information sheet on the sponsorship levels outlining the benefits of participation at the various levels. Last year, we had more sponsors seeking to participate than we had space available, so act early to secure your sponsorship.
I am eagerly looking forward to your participation in this wonderful event. More information will follow in the coming months.
If you are interested in any of the sponsorship levels, please reach out to Andrew Owen at andrewowen@suffolkva.us. If you would like to be a vendor, please contact Daun Hester at daun.hester@norfolk.gov.
Best Regards,
